The Wilson Center Award for Leadership 2010
The Wilson Center founded by Wilson Greatbatch, inventor of the
implantable pacemaker, is offering $1000 leadership Awards to four (4)
high school seniors within the eight (8) counties of Western New York
who will graduate in June 2010. The four (4) winning recipients will be
selected from those students who choose to fill out an application and
write an essay on leadership. The topic of the essay is as follows:
If you were given a leadership position, describe at least five ( 5)
important personal attributes you feel you would need to accomplish
your goals.
Essay Requirements:

Approximately 500 words

Type-written, double spaced

12-point font

Must include a written recommendation from a faculty member

Applications and essays must be received by The Wilson Center by 4 pm
Friday, December 11, 2009 (or postmarked no later than 12/11/09)
- Awards will be given in May 2010; winners will be sent a letter indicating the exact date and time
The mission of The Wilson Center is to develop, publish and
distribute educational materials to individuals who have largely been
bypassed by established educational organizations. In keeping with the
life of the founder, Wilson Greatbatch, the goal includes helping
potential inventors, entrepreneurs and managers develop their abilities
and better succeed in the global marketplace, with special emphasis on
making such materials and information accessible in a variety of
